Jessica Cheinstain says there were certain rules actors had to follow
The American actress doesn’t hesitate to voice her point of view on the worries.
Jessica Chastain is delighted to tell that many things have changed in the film industry. According to the actress, all gender-based discrimination actions were the core problem for actors.
The Oscar-winner admitted that only 12 years back, it was a "silly game" for actors to come to film producers with their visions on the movie. She, as a female actress, had to tell her opinion on shootings to the male co-workers, who would later pass it to the director.
However, in her interview with Porter, the actress was happy to claim that times have changed and working conditions got better, as well.
"People coming into the industry now have a different set of rules than 12 years ago. I felt like, if I had an idea for a scene, I had to speak to the male actor I was working with — and then, if he liked it, he would bring it up with the director. I noticed if I brought things up to a director, it was like an immediate no, not even really having a conversation. A silly game that had to be played, which I don’t think is the case now."
