The singer’s vision of the future didn’t match reality.

There was a point in Harry Styles' career when he was about to give in. The “One Direction” lead felt so devastated, he didn't know what to do next.

Back in the day, “One Direction's” popularity was mind-blowing and ever-rising. After the band fell apart, Styles thought he could never achieve such fame again. He confessed in an interview with Rolling Stone that he didn’t want to continue as a solo artist either. The “As It Was” singer still can’t believe where he ended up.

“After One Direction, I didn’t expect to ever experience anything new. I kind of felt like, ‘All right, I’ve seen how crazy it can get.’ And I think there was something about it where I was…not terrified, but I just needed a minute. Because I wasn’t sure what it was. Just that the energy felt insane.”
