Eye Illusion: You won’t Guess Why 60 Pairs of Shoes are Thrown around the river of Dunes
The method is way too authentic.
Six dozen pairs of various shoes, boots, kid’s sandals, and clogs are scattered on the shore of the river Dunes, near Butapest’s Parliament house. One may wonder why such a mess is allowed on public display.
However, looking closer, a wonderful piece of art is revealed, striking in its subtleness. The memorial has been set for April 16, 2005, to commemorate those killed during the Holocaust. No wonder the sculpture shocks with its authenticity. The author used shoe models from the 1940s, so it’s not hard to imagine the people who could have left those on the shore.
