Versace Made T-Shirt with Hong Kong and Macau as Independent Countries
A little research wouldn't hurt.
The Versace fashion house could have lost its reputation because of employees' ignorance. China demanded an explanation.
A few years ago, the fashion brand decided to make t-shirts with country-city pairings but messed everything up. A photo of their merchandise showed how Donatella and her team considered Hong Kong and Macau separate countries while, in reality, both were the official parts of China. Such a negligent mistake sent the Chinese into a rage, and they started shaming Versace.
The house representatives posted an official apology on their social media pages and promised to remove the design.
“Never have I wanted to disrespect China’s National Sovereignty and this is why I wanted to personally apologize for such inaccuracy and for any distress that it might have caused.”
